About News for AI

A small newsroom for a large industry: the record first, then the argument.

News for AI is an independent site about artificial intelligence as an industry, a research program, and a political project. We cover model releases, regulation, open weights, and the companies that would prefer you not to distinguish those things.

The tone is editorial, not fannish. Launch-day recaps belong on the News desk. If a story is mostly a sermon, it runs as Opinion and is labeled that way. Analysis is for the mechanism — pricing, compute, law — when the mechanism is the point.

What we will not do

We will not launder a demo into a product, treat a safety blog post as a safety result, or confuse “open” with “accountable.” We take advertising and may use affiliate links. Both are disclosed. Neither buys the lede.

How to read the desks

  • News — what happened, with enough context to make the happening matter.
  • Opinions — signed arguments. Disagree in public.
  • Analysis — the bill, the statute, the cluster, the second-order effect.
  • Briefs — the week, compressed.

Tips, corrections, and disagreements go to the desk.
